My son and I recently had the flu. It had been going around school. I was surprised we got it because we almost never get sick anymore, but this one seemed to be particularly tenacious. My friend Beth, who went to medical school, mentioned it sounded like we had swine flu based on our symptoms. It started with just a headache, a very unusual symptom for us, and a runny nose. Inocuous enough! Then came the slight fever. Then the nausea which grew worse and worse. My flu was just building momentum towards the “I know I’m about to toss my cookies…” when I heard from my homeopath. Her daughter had just had that flu, and since it is characterized by symptoms which are quite changeable (runny nose, headache, slight fever, nausea, etc.) the remedy to treat it is pulsatilla. One teaspoon of our Pulsatilla 30c remedy completely cured my nausea! A few more teaspoons and the flu was history.
To prepare the remedy, dissolve two Pulsatilla 30c pellets (available at health-oriented markets such as Whole Foods) in 8 ounces of water in a plastic bottle. For the first dose, take 1 teaspoon of this water. Subsuquent doses must be successed (banged against the heel of your hand or a chair seat) 8 times to strengthen your dose.
Other remedies that can be helpful in battling flus different from the one above are Arsenicum album, Eupatorium perfoliatum, Gelsemium, Rhus-tox, Baptisia tinctoria, and others. The best way to understand how to use these remedies is to consult Dr. Luc de Schepper’s invaluable book The People’s Repertory. You will pay a high price for it on Amazon.com if you can get it there, but you can also get it for a reasonable price at www.DrLuc.com. I hope to have Dr. Luc’s books available on this site, but…not yet!
Homeopathy has a significant history of effectively healing flus, more effectively than mainstream remedies.
