Documented Dangers of Genetically Modified Foods

I don’t want to be paranoid.  Then I read this stuff and it makes my skin crawl.  How I wish I hadn’t let Jeremy eat any chips or corn tortillas at the taqueria!  And I ate them too!  Did you know the modified genes in genetically-modified food likely get incorporated into your genes and you begin manufacturing pesticides in your intestines??  That is not good!  How many kale-bananna smoothies will it take to undo the damage of the genetically-modified corn and soy we’ve eaten?  Click below for a sobering article on the documented dangers of genetically modified foods.  Now I know why the FDA hasn’t done any more testing on GMO foods.  Ugh.

You can obtain a current list of GMO foods–and there are more than you think–at www.centerforfoodsafety.org.

I decided to go non-GMO about two months ago.  This limits the number of restaurants I can go to pretty severely–even in my liberal-thinking, health-oriented town!  Most people just don’t think about what all those chickens and cows are eating…but I do.  One of my strategies for being able to join my family & friends in eating out is to get beans and rice at a Mexican restaurant and bring my own tortilla chips.  They might look at you funny asking for an empty chips basket, but your friends will love you for not adding to their GMO-corn load.  Sometimes the fish is wild-caught and you can even indulge in a fish platter or tacos if you eat wheat.
