The Transformative Power of Enzymes

The light goes on:  having now read a number of books on veganism and the healing power of raw foods and enzymes, a picture is emerging for me concerning why we have our modern diseases and how we can heal from them and attain optimal, vibrant health.  The book The China Study documents at length the dangers of eating too much meat and fat-rich foods.  That author advocates total veganism, but I am not yet convinced.   He does present evidence of the health benefits of no more than 10% of our calories from meat, however, which seems to be a great goal for our diets.  And if you eat most of your food raw, as advocated by Thomas Chavez in How We Heal and Valya Boutenkos book Fresh, you will benefit from the rich store of enzymes in your food which are easily killed off by cooking.  Enzymes are critical in assisting your body in digesting food.  This is why a raw diet is so powerful.  Digested food fuels the body, but undigested food sits in your gut, weakens your immune system, pollutes your liver, and causes disease.  So digestion turns out to be, to say the least, rather important to your health!

Even on a raw diet, however, supplemental enzymes can be incredibly beneficial for many of us.  If you eat raw food and have plenty of enzymes to digest the food you eat, your pancreas doesn’t have to produce the enzymes to digest your food.  Instead, it can use its resources to produce enzymes to keep itself in good repair.  Surplus energy and enzymes will be used to clean up emerging cancers, dead tissue, and other problems throughout the body.  So even on a raw diet, supplemental enzymes can be incredibly helpful in promoting healing and actually regenerating healthy tissue.  There are a handful of books which detail the healing power of enzymes.  Standouts include Enzymes:  What The Experts Know, and the eye-opening books Enzymes for Autism and Enzymes:  Go With Your Gut.  Each of these books offer extremely valuable practical information regarding how to use enzymes to heal a number of different problems, including autism, autoimmune disease, cancer, arthritis, insulin resistance, obesity, and yeast (candidiasis), and offer real help for diabetes and some other conditions.  The Complete Book of Enzyme Therapy is a terrific follow-on to any (or all) of the above books, as it is a catalog of diseases and the enzyme/supplements combinations which bring about a cure.

The books Body Electronics and How We Heal cause me to think that the difference between improvement of a condition and total healing of it (and achievement of total well-being) may be a matter of the amount of enzymes you use.  Both books advocate a high-dose enzyme therapy.

After trying the readily available over-the-counter enzymes, such as the highest potency brand available, Enzymedica, you may find over time that you need something stronger.   If you do, try  Theramedix.  Their very helpful website will lead you to several practitioners in your area who carry the Theramedix line.  Theramedix is similar to Enzymedica, but it is about 3 times stronger.  This may also help you get enzymes covered by your insurance plan.  What a ***great*** idea.

In addition, the website www.enzymestuff.com is a treasure trove of information on enzymes.  Visit it!

I have begun my own trial of enzyme therapy.  You can read all about it here.
